THE COVENANT OF THE WESTCHESTER CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH AS WRITTEN AND SIGNED DECEMBER 17, 1728
We, whose names are here unto subscribed apprehending it to be our indispensable duty to comply with the calls of Christ who not withstanding our great unwillingness and sinful nature, is graciously inviting us to partake of the covenant of Grace both in the internal and external privileges of it, under a deep sense of our vileness, unworthiness, and insufficiency of ourselves to any good work depending upon the grace of Christ for assistance and the mercy of God through him for acceptance as we have obtained help from God. We do vouch for the Lord Jehovah, Father, Son and Holy Ghost to be our Redeemer and sanctifier and the portion of our souls forever. Giving up ourselves to the Lord and one another by the will of God promising to walk together as Brethren in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel to watch over one another with a spirit of meekness, love and tenderness, striving together against sin and to observe all the ordinances of Christ in his word, pure and entire conscientiously attending and upholding the public worship of God in the place; submitting ourselves to the discipline of his Kingdom in the world; we do also give up our children to the Lord, promising to bring them up in the "nurture and admonition of the Lord".
All this we do, flying to the Blood of the everlasting covenant for the pardon and cleansing; Begging that he would make us steadfast in the Holy Covenant unto the end. That so we may obtain the blessings of it.
AMEN
